OCF Member Ratings
Please find your rating at the United States Chess Federation (USCF) website at: http://www.uschess.org/msa/, or the Chess Ratings Northwest website (scholastic players only) at: http://www.ratingsnw.com/.

The Oregon Chess Federation has three classes of membership: (rev. 8/30/2013, 5/22/2016)

Full Member Membership

This membership is for one year. Full Membership includes a voting membership in the Oregon Chess Federation plus a 12-month subscription to Northwest Chess Magazine. Cost is $25.00 per year for Adults and $19.00 for Juniors under age 20 at the expiration of their annual membership. Discounted 3-year options are also available (currently $65.00 for adults and $45.00 for juniors). Juniors may also choose a six-month "scholastic" membership for $10.00. This is a good choice to get introduced to the OCF and NWC during the school year (although it's available any time of year).

Associate or "Family" Membership

This membership is for one year. Associate Membership includes a voting membership in the Oregon Chess Federation but does not include a subscription to Northwest Chess Magazine. Cost is $5.00 per year. Associate memberships may be purchased by a member of the immediate family living in the same household as a full Adult or Junior member.

Tournament Membership

This membership can only be purchased at a tournament in Oregon, Washington or Idaho and lasts for three months only (revised April 2013). Tournament Membership cost is $10.00 for three months. This is a non-voting membership and includes only an introductory three-month subscription to Northwest Chess Magazine (valid USPS address required). PLEASE NOTE: This tournament rate is not on the Membership Application (see below) but is available at most tournaments.

There is no minimum age requirement to join the Oregon Chess Federation.

You may join OCF at any time. If you choose a Full Membership or Associate Membership, your membership is for the twelve-month period starting from the date of your membership. If you choose a Tournament Membership, it is good only for three months. Depending on mailing dates, magazine subscriptions may lag the actual membership by one month.

OCF does not require their members to also be members of USCF. However, most OCF tournament events are USCF-rated and do require USCF membership. For full USCF membership information, please visit their website at: http://www.uschess.org/.

OCF Member Meetings

Each year, one regularly scheduled membership meeting will be held.

Members shall meet during the Labor Day weekend at the site of the Oregon Open Chess Tournament for the transaction of OCF business. At this meeting on every even-numbered year the voting members will elect, by a plurality of those attending and voting, a Board of Directors consisting of the following officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Tournament Coordinator, Scholastic Coordinator, and Director-at-Large. In addition, these United States Chess Federation (USCF) officers will be elected: USCF Delegate for Oregon, USCF Voting Member for Oregon, and at least one USCF Alternate Voting Member for Oregon.

In addition to regularly-scheduled meetings, the Board may call up to two additional meetings per year. Members must be given 30 days' notice prior to the date for such a meeting and the Board must call it upon petition of ten or more members.

Please refer to the Oregon Chess Federation, Inc. By-laws for further information.
